The Property

Eight of our twelve units are in beachfront, single-story duplex buildings. Each has one bedroom and a sleep-sofa in the living room. Two are two-bedroom, beach-view units on the second level of a two-story building just behind the duplexes. The other two are a one-bedroom units on the first floor of the two-story building. Many of our repeat visitors are especially fond of the privacy afforded by the separate location of this building. Each unit includes a bathroom, a kitchen with range and oven, microwave oven and dishwasher, a living-dining area. Ten of the units have decks looking out onto the beach and the gulf. In addition to the kitchen equipment, each unit is equipped with a washer/dryer, color cable TV, telephone, and central air and heat. Most units also have DVD and VHS players.

ABOUT CASEY KEY
Casey Key is a barrier island at the southern end of Sarasota County, in Nokomis, Florida. It is a wildlife refuge, and also boasts several miles of Florida’s most unspoiled and gorgeous Caribbean-like beach. On the east side of the island is the broad intra-coastal waterway which, when it reaches our property, is just minutes away from Venice inlet and the Gulf of Mexico. Dolphins can be seen almost daily, in the waterway and along the north and south jetties of Venice Inlet, frolicking, feeding on mackerel and providing friendly escort to passing boaters. Manatees share the same waters and are often seen within a few feet of the beach.

The gulf side of the island offers an incredible array of fish including snook, redfish, jack, lady fish and, in the right season, lots of tarpon, often within less than a hundred yards of the beach. Untold varieties of water-fowl come to Casey Key to dine on the generous endowment of shrimp, minnows and shell-housed sea “critters” that surrounds it. Visits of the majestic Blue Heron to Gulfside Beach Club are a daily occurrence, and vacationers often learn to distinguish “their” bird from all the others.

You will find a rich variety of restaurants, “Tiki-Bars,” clubs and other commercial establishments within a few miles of our property, several within easy walking distance. There are no such commercial establishments on the island itself, but when the need arises, they are easily accessible. (Bait and fishing gear are, of course, available. Just a mile and a half south, on the north bank of Venice Inlet, is the picturesque, distinctly “old Florida,” North Jetty Fish Camp.)
